The Virtual Lifestyle Finally Reaches Healthcare with WELLalarmâ„¢
For years, we’ve been taking advantage of online banking, automatic bill pay and email reminders for birthdays and anniversaries. At the touch of a button, we can access our contacts, correspondence, travel itineraries and music. But when it comes to the information about our health, the process has still been archaic…until now.
WELLalarm is a web-based service that enables individual subscribers to securely and confidentially store and manage their personal health and medical records, accessing them anytime via the web or their PDA. From an email prompt about an upcoming doctor’s appointment to a phone call in the middle of the night reminding you to take your medicine, WELLalarm provides individuals support to stay on top of their health and that of the loved ones in their care.
WELLalarm is the brainchild of Stephanie Cion, founder and CEO of WELLalarm. “Three years ago, I was traveling for business shortly after I started treatment for a serious neurological illness,” explains Cion. “I developed an allergic reaction to the treatment and became dangerously ill. During this experience, I realized that my illness was not easily identifiable in an emergency and that I did not have access to my medical information in a life-threatening situation.” From that moment of realization, came the idea of a comprehensive service to help individuals manage all aspects of their health, from the routine to the critical.
Using a patent pending system, which includes a unique ID number, WELLalarm clients are able to access their medical information via a web-interface, voice system, or mobile device. Plus, by linking the service to the attractive WELLcharms™ and WELLtags™ jewelry lines, critical, lifesaving information about allergies or a medical condition can be accessed in an emergency by calling the 800-number and providing the inscribed ID number. Best of all, family members are also alerted via SMS text that medical records have been accessed so they will immediately learn of a loved-one’s condition.
“In an age when people store all sorts of information, perform complex monetary
transactions and are connected to everything and everyone via the web,” continues Cion, “it was shocking to realize that people don’t have easy access to the information that matters the most, information about our health.” With her background in technology and healthcare, Cion investigated the market and became quickly aware that there was no quick and easy access to personal medical information for consumers and, what did exist was antiquated and unattractive medical jewelry.
WELLcharms™ and WELLtags™ are high-quality pieces of jewelry that serve both fashion and function. The WELLcharms™ product is an attractive and stylishly designed line of jewelry for women and children. The line for men is called WELLtags™.
“WELLalarm is committed to helping our subscribers improve their overall health and wellness,” concludes Cion. “I’m excited to launch a service that unites both fashion and function. Our service and our jewelry help people go about life with the confidence that crucial information is only moments away.”
